Here is a selection of places to eat that we enjoy going to in Brighton and Hove. With hundreds of restaurants nearby, this list will give you a broad choice of styles which are within a 5 or 10 minutes walk or 5 mins in a cab from Nineteen. These are genuine commendations from the experiences of a very picky “foodie” – we do not get any form of kick back from the restaurants! We’ve only written a few words on each place, so feel free to ask us questions about anywhere you like the sound of.
Brightonians eat out a lot, and when you add in conference delegates and leisure visitors, it means good places are always busy at weekends and it really is a good idea to book restaurants in advance of your stay.
Brighton does not have any Michelin starred restaurants, but a small number have Michelin “bib gourmand” status, meaning they offer good food at reasonable prices. Notwithstanding this, there are lots of choices on this list which offer tasty well prepared food.
Like Michelin, my ratings of Excellent (E), Very Good (VG) and Good (G), is based on the quality of the produce used, the quality of the food served, and the skill of the kitchen team.
A couple of places listed here are purely vegetarian and vegan, but all Brighton restaurants offer a decent choice to non meat eaters, because so many live down here.
